There was a great buzz around the school this week as everyone took part in a wide range of maths-related activities and had lots of fun.
Each day, Ms Duffy set up an Estimation Station in the classrooms, giving pupils the chance to put their estimation skills to the test.
On Monday, pupils estimated how many pieces of pasta were in a jar. Tuesday’s challenge involved estimating the weight of a pumpkin in grammes and kilogrammes. On Wednesday, children estimated the length of a piece of a Frankenstein's chain in centimetres, while Thursday’s activity focused on estimating the number of litres or millilitres of water in a container.
The pupil with the closest estimate to the actual measurement was declared the winner each day. There were plenty of winners, and those who won in their classrooms received Haribo treats and a homework pass.
Many thanks to Ms Duffy for organising such enjoyable and engaging Maths Week activities, with lots of active learning and meaningful Maths Talk.
