See what we are up to in Aghamore N.S.!

Recent Updates

Pupils from 1st to 6th Class recently took part in an excellent and informative workshop delivered by Rosie from Water Safety Ireland.

1st and 2nd Class pupils learned about the dangers associated with water and how to stay safe in and around ponds, lakes, rivers, and the sea. They were shown how to make a star shape to help them stay afloat and learned about lifejackets and lifebuoys, including how to throw a lifebuoy correctly. They also explored the different coloured flags used at beaches and their meanings.

Pupils in 3rd to 6th Class covered all of the above topics and also learned about farm safety, with a particular focus on the dangers of slurry pits.

Well done to the boys and girls who represented us at the Mini 7s Gaelic Football Competition in the Centre of Excellence. They competed against teams from the Gaelscoil in Claremorris and Gortskehy. Although some excellent matches were played, they were unlucky not to progress to the semi-finals.

Despite this, it was a thoroughly enjoyable day for everyone involved. Sincere thanks to Ms Flannery and Colin Glavey for their coaching, and to Mrs Bracken and the parents who kindly provided transport.

Bí Cineálta is the new framework designed to prevent and address bullying behaviour and is to be implemented in all schools. Pupils from every class in Aghamore N.S. were involved in creating a child-friendly version of our Bí Cineálta Policy.

They have been actively engaged in writing about kindness, identifying what bullying behaviour looks like, and learning how it should be addressed. Many children also created beautiful drawings that reflect kindness, friendship, and the importance of knowing how to respond to bullying behaviour.

All of their artwork and writing, along with the child-friendly version of the policy, are displayed in the school corridor. We hope you have the opportunity to view these beautiful displays when you visit the school.
